Climbing all or part of Rinjani is very popular among visitors to
Lombok. Very few attempt independent travel, as all guesthouses and
travel agents on the island can arrange trips, including camping
equipment, porters, food and other necessary supplies and logistics.
Most visitors arrive via the village of Senaru (600m), on the
northern side of the mountain and thus closer to the main resort
area of Senggigi. The other possible entry point is Sembalun Lawang
(1150m), on the eastern side, which is closer to the summit. Within
the park the only way to get around is to hike. Porters can be
arranged to carry your supplies.
Most visitors only opt for the hike to the lower crater rim (2600m),
about 7 hours one way from Senaru, which can be done fairly
comfortably overnight. Going down from the crater rim to the lake
(2000 m) will generally require spending two nights, while going up
to the summit will require at least two nights. Many operators offer
three or four night hikes covering the lot.
The Peak of Rinjani
The people of Lombok believe that the peak of Mt. Rinjani is where
Dewi Anjani, the queen spirit and ruler of Mt. Rinjani lives. To the
south-east from the peak in a sea of dust called Segara Muncar is
the invisible palace of the queen Dewi Anjani and her followers.
The three days summit hike on recommended itinerary is the advance
trekkers program as we provides the 3 days summit hike only.

Recommended Guidelines For Proper Porter Treatment:
* Porters wages should be paid – IDR 250.000/day for all climbing
routes.
* Loads should not exceed 25 kilos – Porter carries 20 kg for the
company and 5 kg of their own gear.
* Porters receive the full amount of tip intended for them – A
transparent tipping procedure in which each crew member receives
their tip directly is the best method to ensure this.
* Porters are outfitted with proper clothing and equipment.
* Porters have proper shelter and sleeping equipment - Each porter
is required to have a sleeping bag and adequate space in sleeping
quarters is provided.
* Porters are given adequate food and water – Porters should be
given access to water and at least two meals a day while climbing
Rinjani Volcano or other volcano in Indonesia.
* Number of crew should stay consistent throughout the trip –
Porters should not be overloaded in order to send other crew down
early.
* Sick or injured porters are properly cared for – An ailing porter
should receive the same treatment as a sick climber would.
* We are all god creatures and we need to treat people as what we
are. Its about humankind.
